FAQ
How a round works, how points add up, and how to reach me.
How do we play?
One person creates a room and shares the link, or reads the 4-character code out loud. Everyone else taps “I have a code,” types it, and enters the same name they want on the scoreboard. Whoever taps start deals 8 questions to the whole room. Answer on your own phone. Fastest correct answers score the most.
How are scores calculated?
A correct answer is worth 100 points if you lock it in immediately, and 40 if you answer as the 12 seconds run out. Anything in between lands on a straight line between those two. A wrong answer is 0. Running out of time is 0. Your score updates when the answer is revealed, not the moment you tap, so nobody can watch the scoreboard for a hint.
What is the streak bonus?
Correct answers in a row add extra points on top of the speed score. The second in a row adds 10. The third adds 20. From the fourth on, the bonus stays at 30. A wrong answer or a timeout resets the streak to zero. Every phone computes the same bonus.
When does a question end?
The question closes when everyone in the room has answered, or when the 12-second timer runs out, whichever comes first. If someone goes quiet, the timer is the backstop and the round moves on.
Do we all get the same questions?
Yes. The room code decides the questions and the order of the choices, so every phone shows the same round. You do not need to be on the same Wi-Fi.
Will the questions repeat?
A room walks through one shuffled deck of 162 questions, with no repeats until that deck is finished. Staying in the same room is what keeps the next round new. A brand-new room code shuffles the deck again, so questions can come back sooner.
How many people can play?
There is no limit of three. Anyone with the code can join, including a solo round if you want to practice. The phone layout is most comfortable for a handful of people. Past that, the roster and the final standings simply scroll.
What if someone joins late?
They catch up mid-round and play the questions that are still ahead. Names already in the room are waited on. Someone who has left is not.
Do I need an account or an app?
No. Open the link in the phone’s browser. Your name and mute setting stay on that phone. Nothing else is stored about you.
The room is open but a phone looks stuck.
Stay on the page. Phones play through the room even when a direct connection never finishes. If a name is listed, that person is in the round. Leave and rejoin with the same code if a phone has been asleep.
How do I turn the sound off?
Tap the speaker in the top corner. The choice is remembered on that phone. A tap only makes a neutral click. Right and wrong sounds wait until the reveal, so the couch cannot hear who got it.
